It’s once again that time of year we enjoy the return of Burlington Snowbull AND show that we are #BurlingtonStrong by helping a local organization in our community that is making a difference. All proceeds from #BurlingtonStrong t-shirt sales go to providing veterans’ services and support in Des Moines County through The Self Reliance Group. Join Snowbull and Titan Broadcasting & Digital Group in supporting area veterans!
The Self Reliance Group will work to assist veterans in three important ways:
- Social supports: A support group run by a local Veteran and his service dog will be supported by The Self Reliance Group
- Technology Access and Use supports: Laptops and tablets will be purchased for veterans’ use and assistance will be provided for veterans to learn how to use them. Technology can be important for veterans to have access to remote medical and mental health appointments offered through the VA
- Transportation supports: Veterans currently have access to transportation to and from appointments at the out of town VA, but in-county transportation assistance in lacking. Transportation programs will be put in place to help veterans get to local medical appointments, run errands or get anywhere they need to go.
